Films
I have always wanted to make films for a long time and I am so grateful to have these be shown to the public. I make films to teach about audiences about interesting people as well as address important topics. Making these films were not always easy, but they will allow you to explore the subjects of directing and private planes. Enjoy!
Four Inspiring Directors
This is the first film I have ever made. I am not making this one up. For this film, I wanted to concentrate on directors who have changed Hollywood with their brilliant films. These directors include Quentin Tarantino, James Cameron, Kathryn Bigelow, and Martin Scorsese. I explore why these directors are inspiring as well as why more should pay more attention to directing. One day, I would love to direct a film for the public to see and I hope it becomes successful among the public, especially for the critics.
Private Planes: Protecting Our Environment
In this environment documentary, audiences will learn about the controversial issues surrounding private plane usage and how we can work together to fix these issues. To discuss the current private plane issues, I sat down with my aunt, Dr. Monica Coakley, to see what she thinks needs to be done to end private planes in the United States. I also interviewed environmental science professor, Dr. Christopher Anderson, to get his opinion. This was one of the most challenging films I made, but it allowed me to learn more about environmental science, a topic I am not familiar with.
Through the Independent Perspective
This film concentrates on three of my favorite independent directors, Yorgos Lanthimos, Jason Reitman, and Alexander Payne, and how each of these directors has changed indie cinema. In 2024, I visited the Music Box Theater for the first time as I felt the presence of independent cinema. I have always wanted to explore the subject more, so I felt that this would be a great opportunity to do it. This film is the one with the most interviews as I talk with my professor, Beth Bullock, my mom, my aunt, and my cousins. Films discussed in this documentary include "The Favourite", "Up in the Air" and "Sideways."
Watch My HitchCon Presentation
In 2023, my film professor, Beth Bullock, told me about a conference inspired by film director Alfred Hitchcock. She asked me if I would be willing to participate in the conference. I was beyond excited to do this as I am a Hitchcock fan and film fan. Since the conference’s theme was storytelling, I was struggling to come up with a film to talk about. I thought I could talk about “Psycho” or “Rear Window”, which are considered to be a few of Hitchcock’s best films. I pitched the ideas to my parents, but my dad told me to pick a Hitchcock film many are unaware of. We sat down and discussed what I should do until we found the film “Lifeboat”, which we thought would be great for the conference. As I watched the film, I noticed that two characters, Willie and Joe, do not get to speak much in the film. I thought this would be a great idea for the conference since I could talk about how these characters’ stories are not told in the film for various reasons. I began to write a five-minute speech explaining the characters’ untold stories. As I wrote, I had to make sure I got all my facts straight and that my paragraphs made sense. In October of the same year, I traveled to Dobbs Ferry, New York, where the conference was being held. It was my first time speaking in front of professors and film experts. I was nervous as I kept flashcards in my hand in case I forgot something. In the end, I think it worked well as this speech made me feel more confident in my public speaking.
